About Peter Konecny
Although my blog focuses on health and fitness the intent is to publish information that is different from the hundreds of other health and fitness blogs. I want to capture a bigger picture of what health and fitness are all about and also bring the topics of “Finance” and “Fun” more into the mix.
I believe that society often overlooks the inter-relationship of these factors and by doing so often misses out on a lot of good things that could take place if they adjusted their focus a bit. Please look over the site and let me know what you think, I value your feedback.
Here’s a little info about me…
Who:
Most of the writing is done by Peter Konecny. I think I am a fairly normal person but what do I really know. The last name is Czech and is pronounced [Ko-netch-knee]
Credentials:
Mostly life experiences; good and bad. I have been married to the same person for over 30 years, and we have three mostly grown up kids. I have lived in six different states, from north to east to west to south and now settled in the middle of the country.
I’m a former finance executive of a Fortune 500 company where an intense work culture could have destroyed my health if I hadn’t relied upon my own concepts for dealing with Food, Fitness, Finance, and Fun the core components for 100 Years of Health.
Non-Credentials:
I consider myself to be just a big kid who never wanted to grow-up, physically or mentally. To reinforce my passion for fun and health I read about it and constantly observed other people’s health and relaxation habits.
Education:
Not a whole lot to say. My high school achievements were near zero and in college I improved to mediocre. I did somehow get a college degree from the University of Wisconsin and was fortunate to find a low paying but challenging job to get my career started.
Work Career:
After a few crazy but productive years working in small business I joined Miller Brewing Company. A great company to work for, but like most competitive organizations presented a constant barrage of hurdles that had to be overcome. I started with Miller as an Accountant Analysis and retired 30 years later as a Finance Director.
Work Experiences:
Thrilling to say the least. I had hundreds of millions of dollars to work with, made five physical location moves throughout the country and survived seven employee reduction initiatives. Mostly, I enjoyed the entire ride.
Work Observations:
Witnessed firsthand a number of co-workers fight the mental stress factors and lose. Often the effect on their physical stature was disguised, as many outwardly successful employees did not appear to fully recognize that poor personal health habits were slowly destroying their bodies. I don’t believe that most of these individuals realized other choices were available to them.
Challenges:
At work and at home, there seemed to be constant forces coming at me from all directions that worked directly against good health and having fun. It seemed that many individuals seem to think the health and fun were mutually exclusive categories. I can assure you they are not exclusive and if fact can complement each other well if maintained in the proper perspective.
Blog Content:
Titled 100 Years of Health. Focus is on Food, Fitness, Finance, and Fun and merging these factors with the personal experiences of everyday people and hopefully telling a good story. Emphasis is placed on personal responsibility and how individuals can put themselves into the best possible position to maximize physical fitness, eat great food, be financially stable, and most importantly have some fun every day. The goal is to learn… to think… to act as a kid again.
Why the Chosen Categories:
A deficiency in any one of them can have a negative effect on one’s health. Being at least average in each category will put one in a great position to get the most out of life. Over-complicating the subject matter is almost always a loser.
Common Links Observed:
Life’s winners have a near obnoxious positive attitude. The runner-ups have excuses. It’s too bad because many of the individuals who came up short of their life’s aspirations had all the talent needed to become a complete winner if they would have just taken better care of themselves.
The Escape:
Throughout my work career and hectic home life I was sub-consciously developing my 100 Years of Health concepts.
Nothing to Lose:
Give 100 Years of Health concepts a try, improvements in Food, Fitness, Finance, and Fun will be much easier to attain.
The Catch:
The deck is stacked against society when people attempt to balance health, finance and fun issues. To stay mentally and physically fit it takes some effort and a little knowledge. 100 Years of Health can help but in the end you must do it yourself.
The Prize:
Being fit, enjoying good food, beverages guilt free, and getting comfortable with your personal finances is a great place to be.
Today:
100 Years of Health was created to help individuals get and stay on a healthy and fulfilling life track.
Tomorrow:
If you take care of your mind and body . . . other good things will follow!
